Yes it is. You can decide how long you go trek on a trail, adapting the challenge to your fitness level and activity ambitions. We even have a family series version to get the kids involved.
is the trail challenge a fitness challenge?
The Trail Challenge is about being active in nature on a regular basis. A result you may see an improvement in your fitness level.
WHAT IS MEANT BY A <<TRAIL>> ?
For the purposes of our challenge a trail is a route, a path determined for foot traffic.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY <<TREK>> ?
By trek we mean hike, run or snowshoe.
DO I HAVE TO STICK TO ONE SPORT TO COMPLETE ALL THE TRAILS?
Not at all. You can mix it up, for example hiking most of the year but snowshoeing in the snowy months.
I'M NEW TO TREKKING. IS THIS FOR ME?
If you've wanted to make trekking part of your outdoor lifestyle, the challenge is a great way to not only to commit to it but also gain resources, skills and a community to cheer you on.
WHEN DOES THE TRAIL CHALLENGE START?
We are launching The Trail Challenge on 21 June 2021 but you can start any time after that. Just take the next 365 days from the date you join to try and complete the challenge.

CAN I TAKE PART EVEN IF I'M NOT IN SWITZERLAND?
Absolutely! For this first edition, you can join the FREE basic option where we challenge you to trek a different trail every week for the next 365 days.
WHY IS THE CONTENT ONLY OFFERED IN ENGLISH?
We want to be as inclusive as possible but we are a small structure and cannot yet fund translation and content maintenance in several languages. That's what motivated our decision to use English as the most commonly understood language across several geographical areas. It's not perfect but we had to start somewhere!
WHAT HAPPENS IF I CAN'T TREK ONE WEEK?
You can just make it up another week. Let say you are off sailing for a week and have no trail options. Skip that week and enjoy your sailing holiday. You can then build in 2 treks one week and you are back on track.
WHAT IF I FALL TOO FAR BEHIND TO CATCH UP?
Whatever you do, don't stop trekking! You may not achieve the ultimate goal of trekking a different hike every week over the next 365 days but take a minute to reflect on what you have achieved. Adding more outdoor time to your life has plenty of benefits -- boost your energy, improves your immunity system, reduces stress, increases creativity -- and that's a win!
how will you track my progress IF I AM ON THE BASIC CHALLENGE OPTION?
We will be using social media to track your progress. To do this we need you to post a picture on social media of you on the trail - extra brownie points if you have a picture of the trail name - and include what trail number you've completed using hashtags. For the first trail you complete you would use #trail1, for the second you would use #trail2 and so on. Also tag us using @thetrailchallenge. You should also fill out the downloadable tracker we'll send you after signing up to track your own progress.
IF I'M DOING THE JPC, CAN I COUNT THE JPC TREKS FOR THE TRAIL CHALLENGE?
Absolutely as each JPC trek is on a different trail.
IS THERE A NEW CHALLENGE EVERY 365 DAYS?
Every year there will be a new theme under the series option but the core will always be about trekking as many different trails in 365 days.
